TAG Celebrates the Month of Love with Junk Journaling, Cocktail Specials, and Paint-and-Sip Party

DENVER, CO ​ – TAG Restaurant Group, led by Chef Troy Guard, is celebrating Valentine’s Day with a lineup of creative events across Denver. From a hands-on Galentine’s Junk Journaling Party at HashTAG Downtown to romantic cocktail specials at Done Deal and a playful Paint & Sip Party at Los Chingones, there are plenty of fun ways to celebrate love, friendship, and everything in between.

"Valentine’s Day is about spending time with the people who matter most and having a little fun while you’re at it," said Chef Troy Guard. "Whether you’re getting creative with a junk journal, enjoying a signature cocktail, or painting with your favorite people, we want every moment to be full of laughter and memories."

 

Galentine’s Junk Journaling Party at HashTAG Downtown

WHAT: Located in the heart of downtown Denver, HashTAG Downtown is turning its cozy, fully enclosed, and heated #RoofTOP into the ultimate Galentine’s Day destination. Known for Chef Troy Guard’s boozy brunch and happy hour, HashTAG is blending cocktails and creativity for a one-night-only Galentine’s Junk Journaling experience.

Guests are invited to sip, snip, glue, and vibe during Galentine’s Junk Journaling on the #RoofTOP, a craft-forward evening that pairs crafty creativity with chef-driven bites and cocktails.

For $59.90 per person, HashTAG will provide all supplies needed to create a one-of-a-kind junk journal, including scrapbook paper, stickers, ribbons, and decorative elements. Guests are encouraged to bring a journal along with any photos or memorabilia they would like to incorporate, from concert tickets to keepsakes and receipts. The experience also includes light bites curated by Chef Troy Guard, along with a choice of two cocktails or mocktails, all enjoyed in a warm rooftop setting high above the city.

Valentine’s Day Sips at Done Deal

WHAT: Done Deal, Chef Troy Guard’s upscale cocktail lounge, is pouring romance all month long with the Aphrodisiac Oyster Martini. Available throughout February, the cocktail features peppercorn-infused Aviation Gin and olive brine mignonette, served alongside a freshly shucked New Brunswick oyster. Bold, indulgent, and unexpected, the drink is crafted to elevate any date night, whether enjoyed to kick off the evening or as a cheeky nightcap.

El Cupido Stupido Sip & Paint at Los Chingones DTC

WHAT: Los Chingones DTC is bringing back El Cupido Stupido Sip & Paint for a playful and fun Valentine’s experience. Guests will spend the evening painting a ceramic heart wall ornament while enjoying a refreshing Milargo margarita, housemade chips with guacamole or queso, and Los Chingones’ famous mole cookies to top off the evening. 

This event is perfect for friends, couples, or anyone looking to leave the traditional romance vibes behind with good drinks, delicious bites, and a little artsy fun. For $55 per person, each ticket includes everything needed for a memorable night of painting, sipping, and snacking the night away.

About Chef Troy Guard
Born and raised in Hawaii, Chef Troy Guard has lived and worked across the globe, beginning his storied career in San Diego at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa. Guard moved back to Maui at the age of 21 where he met his mentor, Chef Roy Yamaguchi at the Kahana Bar and Grill. ​ Under the tutelage of Yamaguchi, Troy traveled across Asia, opening multiple outposts over a span of eight years in Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo. While in Asia, Guard had the amazing opportunity to set off on his own and work at two of the finest hotels in the world, The Peninsula in Hong Kong and Raffles in Singapore. Guard reconnected with Roy, landing in New York to open Roy’s New York in the Downtown Business District and eventually moved on to the prestigious TAO on 57th Street. Guard put down roots in Denver, CO in 2002, and helped modern-Mexican Chef Richard Sandoval open hotspot Zengo in Riverfront Park before joining the kitchens at Nine75 and Ocean with real estate development mogul Jim Sullivan. 

Guard opened his first restaurant, TAG, on Denver’s Larimer Square in 2009 which led to his opening of Mister Tuna, Crazy Love Pizza, TAG Burger Bar, Lucky Cat, TAG Raw Bar, Big Wave Taco, Sugar Mill, Tiny Giant Sushi, Rado Burgers, Grange Food Hall and FNG. TAG Restaurant Group currently has six concepts over eleven restaurants including the boozy breakfast joint, HashTAG, the quick-casual, build-your-own bowl Bubu, the bold Mexican concept Los Chingones, the chic cocktail bar Done Deal, the neighborhood hangout TAG Burger Bar and the show-stopping, modern steakhouse, Guard & Grace. While the concepts vary wildly, throughout you will find evidence of Troy's Hawaiian roots as well as special global touches, creatively woven into the menus.

Guard has numerous accolades and awards to his name including being voted Best Chef in Denver, awarded one of the Top Steakhouses in the Nation with Guard and Grace, named ​ one of the “Great Regional Chefs of America” by the James Beard Foundation, named Bar & Restaurant Expo’s 2023 Chef of the Year and most recently was honored by the MICHELIN Guide as a recommended restaurant with Guard and Grace.
